Milestones
What a great day we all had today but especially Hayle. It's been a long year and it's time to move on and that's what we are doing. Success, goals, healthy lifestyle, everything good out there in front of her... the world is her oyster... or at least some really great fiber. My hat is off to you daughter, we are so incredibly proud of you. There are still a few hurdles to jump but they are very small and it looks like Hayle will be entering USU in January. This was a fabulous day to be a Mom!

A new day
What a pretty day today, cool but comfortable. I like days like this but I also know that it means that summer is in the past... and so the seasons go. Enough of this, let's get on to knitting!
I've been working on my Jared Flood mitts and they are coming along nicely and I'm enjoying the rhythm of the cables. I have two more repeats of the center motif and then I'll be done with the right one. I've managed to set up a Flickr account for photos but can't seem to get them into my profile so I'm guessing that I won't be able to manage getting them into my Ravelry groups either. I'd like to share my work online too... soon I suppose. If anyone reads this and is interested in a KAL for these mitts then just follow the link to the Druid Mittens KAL.
I need to get started on my scarf for Kami tomorrow. I am using the Inside Out Scarf pattern and it turns out really nice for either guys or gals. I've finished Anna's and it looks great so I better get going on the other... the deadline will be here soon!
More soon!

Fall is upon us
It appears that autumn has come to our little valley. The mountains are changing color and the air is crisp. I grabbed a sweater as I left the house today. The conifers are heavy laden with cones and they are dropping fast. Me thinks it will be an early hard winter. All of this is at least a month early.
I just finished my "sporran" for the Outlander Swap and it turned out nicely...can't wait to fill it. I'm gathering goodies to put in the Christmas stocking I made for the stocking swap. Then there's the fiber swap... well... I have fiber so that won't be difficult. I love swapping and I love Ravelry!!!
I also finished spinning and plying my sunrise colored silk and am now looking for the perfect pattern. I have almost 1000 yards. Yummy silk shawl!
Last night I got back to the Jared Flood mitts that I started and am enjoying them much more after a break. Something interesting happened this past week to add to that enjoyment... I've been knitting cables for many, many years. I don't have problems with cables, I enjoy them but I've never really "gotten" it... I must watch and follow the pattern... while finishing the cables on my sporran everything became crystal clear... I "got" cables! I can see what comes next, which way they go (or don't go)... whether or not I need to do 3st or 4st cables and whether they should be knitted or purled first. I'm not sure exactly what happened but I can say that life just became a lot easier.
