October fiber swap and "swaps" in general

Look what I received in the mail today! Thank you Gianina aka Thegrotonknitter! This is my October package from the fiber swap that I'm in. The swap is for three months and we send and receive a minimum of 4-oz of great spinning fiber. My package included a 2-oz batt in royal blue and bright green and 2-oz of combed top dyed blue/green/purple. I'm not sure what kind of wool or wool blend these are but they both have a lovely hand. I don't have a finished project in mind yet but I believe I'll spin these separately and then ply them together. I see a truly yummy fiberlicious yarn coming from these.

Swapping is so fun. I really enjoy "snooping" around, learning about my swap partners preferences and things they might need. It's alot of fun putting together these boxes knowing how much they'll be enjoyed. And, on the receiving end... what can I say! How great to get a present that's exactly what you want...it's a win-win for everyone. I LOVE SWAPPING! Maybe we need some type of bumper sticker that says that.

I'm in two other swaps right now. The Outlander swap is based on fans of Jamie and Claire from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series. My "sporran" is complete and I think I have all of the goodies for it... now to get it off in the mail! I'm also in the Worldwide Christmas Stocking swap where we swap a hand-made Christmas stocking. Mine is done and it's headed off to New Zealand in a few weeks. I still need to gather goodies for that one. The stocking that I receive will be a complete surprise... this isn't a secret swap but for some reason my partner wanted to keep it a surprise so I have no clue who's making it or where it's coming from. I've been told that it's from a long way off and that it will be fabulous. I love fabulous!

I'm determined to be strong and limit my swap habit until after the holidays... no more swaps till '09. But now I've discovered KALs... I'll try to be strong there too... at least til after the holiday. Knitting - yarn - fiber strength... is there any such thing? No... just weakness. Oh well, no one's perfect.
